Drive it Day 2014 - North Wales
Once again the West Cheshire MGOC was out in force for the Drive it day and thanks go to Mike & Angie for preparing the route in their new MG6!
Again, thanks to Mike & Angie, the club enjoyed an excellent FBVHC Drive It Day run, otherwise known as the Lake to Lake run on the 27th April. The Haughtons set the route in their newly acquired MG6. On the day we had Mike & Angie in their MGC GT, Bob and Iris in their modified MGB, Chris and Melanie in their MGB, Chairman Jones in his MGB Roadster with Chris, whilst Phil and Elaine were in their MGB GT (with Chris’ wheelchair), Michael Jennings in his MGB GT, Martin in his MGB GT, Phil in his MG Midget, Derek and grandson in his MGF, Mark and Carol in their MGF, and Simon and Julie with Julie’s father, Ron, in their MG6 Magnette. Mike and Deb from Wrexham joined us in their MGB part way along the route in Ruthin. The weather held off for most of the day giving us a clear run down to Bala Lake and on over to Lake Vyrnwy for a late lunch stop. The rain started later in the afternoon although by then most were tired and heading home. All in all, an excellent 120 mile with the only casualty being Martin’s loose exhaust finisher on his MGB GT which was removed and discard in the boot. For those that don’t know, Chris recently had his leg amputated owing to cancer so it was brilliant to have Chris on the run and to see him earlier in the month at the meeting. Chris is an inspiration to us all!
